History

The Diabetes Ray of Hope Foundation (hereforth called DRHF) was founded in September, 2008, after the passing of  beloved entrepreneur, Raymond “Ray” Bergholz, founder of Traffic & Parking Control Company (TAPCO, Inc.). Ray was loved by many, respected by all. A hard-working family man full of wisdom and caring, his  family founded the DRHF in his honor, in the hopes of eradicating diabetes, a disease that too soon took the life of his eldest son, a type 1 diabetic. Ray’s wife of 60+ years and his daughter-in-law also live with type 2 diabetes. Ray’s twin granddaughters were diagnosed with type 1 (juvenile) diabetes as young children. Without their family’s support, the constant and prohibitive cost of diabetes care would be too high to receive the ongoing high quality diabetes treatment and supplies everyone living with diabetes deserves.

Mission Statement

DRHF’s  mission is to provide hope by funding researchers whose work offers the best and most viable path for curing all types of diabetes. DRHF collaborates with other organizations to support and promote diabetes advocacy and public education about the causes and treatment of all types of diabetes and the prevention of complications. The DRHF also allocates funds to at-risk and high needs communities so where you live does not determine how you live with diabetes. The DRHF’s staff is volunteer and funded solely through donations and sponsorship from the business community, private individuals and fundraising special events.

DRHF aims to:

  • Empower
  • Educate
  • Eradicate (diabetes)

We do this by using our resources to:

  • Provide (funds, support)
  • Prevent, and finally
  • Prevail against diabetes!
